Teddy Bear Picnic

From Wednesday the 18th to Friday the 20th of June, Hoppers Crossing Montessori Centre was filled with an extra touch of magic as we hosted our annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Children across all rooms proudly brought in their favourite soft and cuddly friends, creating a heartwarming atmosphere of comfort, imagination, and joy.

Throughout the week, each classroom embraced the spirit of the picnic in their own creative way. The children participated in a range of themed activities, from teddy bear-themed storytelling and songs to arts and crafts where they made bear masks, played games, and did picnic-themed lunches. The classrooms were filled with laughter and learning as the children shared stories about their bears, strengthening their language, social, and emotional skills.

One of the highlights was the group picnic time, where children sat on picnic rugs, shared snacks with their teddies, and enjoyed outdoor or indoor picnics depending on the weather. It was a beautiful way to build a sense of belonging and community as everyone gathered together, including the educators who joined in the celebration.

The Teddy Bears’ Picnic also offered many opportunities for imaginative play, as children role-played with their bears, created teddy bear tea parties, and even helped “care” for their teddy friends, encouraging empathy and nurturing behaviours.

It truly was a wonderful event, filled with laughter, learning, and lasting memories for both the children and our educators.
