Pyjama Day Fun

On Friday, 18th July, our Centre was filled with warmth and excitement as we hosted Pyjama Day. Both children and educators arrived dressed in their favourite pyjamas, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere that made everyone feel right at home.

The morning began with a special movie session, where the children watched two delightful stories by the much-loved author Julia Donaldson, Room on the Broom a heartwarming tale of friendship and teamwork and The Gruffalo which is a classic story of a clever mouse and his imaginative adventures in the deep dark woods.

The children were fully engaged, responding with laughter and enthusiasm as familiar rhymes and characters came to life on the big screen. These stories supported not only language development but also our children’s imagination and emotional engagement.

Following the movie, the children were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by our talented chef, Vijay. The menu included freshly made pizzas, garden salad, crispy potato wedges and a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade

But rather than simply serving lunch, we added a creative twist, the children were given pretend money and invited to purchase their meal from a menu set up at our pretend Movie Counter.

The children chose their items from the menu, came up to the counter, and paid for their lunch using their play money, which was a fun and meaningful way to explore decision making, counting, exchanging, and turn taking. This activity was not only engaging but also provided an excellent opportunity to practice real life social interactions in a playful and supportive learning environment. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sense of independence and responsibility, and many expressed pride in buying their own meals. The joy on their faces as they selected their food and sat down with friends to eat was a beautiful highlight of the day.

Pyjama Day was a successful and memorable event that brought our learning community closer together. It supported children’s social connections, encouraged storytelling and language development, and provided a meaningful shared experience outside the children’s usual routines.
