Thingle Toodle Incursion: Learning Road Safety

We were thrilled to welcome a special guest, Cam, along with his friend, Thingle Toodle, to Hoppers Crossing Montessori Centre on Wednesday, the 11th, and Thursday, the 12th of September. This exciting and educational incursion gave our children an incredible opportunity to learn about the important topic of road safety in a fun and engaging way.

Cam captivated the children with an interactive skit that was both entertaining and informative. As part of the celebration, we marked a special milestone—Thingle Toodle’s 4th birthday! The skit centred around the idea of “growing up,” which included learning the essentials of road safety. The children joined Thingle Toodle on a quest to discover these important safety lessons, making the experience even more memorable. We also celebrated the birthday of a child from the Waratah Room, which made the day extra special for everyone.

One of the key lessons focused on the importance of wearing seatbelts. Cam demonstrated how seatbelts protect us while in the car and emphasized the need to always “buckle up” correctly. The children eagerly participated in practicing how to secure their seatbelts, ensuring they understood this critical life-saving habit.

In addition, the children learned about road crossing safety. Cam taught them the importance of stopping at a stop sign, looking both ways, and always holding an adult’s hand when crossing the street. This practical advice empowered the children to be more aware of their surroundings when near traffic.

Another important lesson focused on the necessity of wearing helmets while riding bikes or scooters. Thingle Toodle and Cam demonstrated how helmets protect our heads, emphasizing the importance of wearing one every time we ride.

This interactive incursion allowed the children to practice these valuable safety measures in a supportive and enjoyable environment. The lessons were not only fun but also memorable, and the children left feeling proud of their new knowledge. They were excited to share what they had learned about road safety with their families, making the experience truly impactful for everyone involved!
